Hydrosol Skin Toners & Aftershaves
Bryce Canyon Botanical Skin Toners and Aftershaves are made from hydrosols. Hydrosols are the 100% natural and pure botanical liquids produced by steam or hydro distillation of plant material. Basically, steam passes through the plant material, collecting essential oils and liquid essence of the plant. The steam is cooled in a condenser and returned to a liquid state. That liquid is the hydrosol and essential oils of the plant. The highest concentrations of essential oils float to the top and are separated off, leaving small amounts of suspended essential oil still in the hydrosol. Each drop of hydrosol contains the pure and complete essence and beneficial qualities of the plant in a gentle and less concentrated form than essential oils. No alcohol, preservatives or additives of any kind are added to the hydrosol.
Hydrosols are gentle, non-oily and mildly astringent. Hydrosols make wonderful skin toners and aftershaves, cleansing and penetrating the pores, sealing in hydration and aiding the pH balance of the skin. Also, simply mist all over or put in a diffuser to enjoy the aromatherapy fragrances to relax, refresh and pick up the spirits!
Use as a hair or body spritz or facial toner after cleansing or use before and after shaving. Spritz on face and cotton pad, then wipe off with the cotton pad to remove any soap or mineral residue left from the cleansing or shaving. Follow with a fingertip massage of several drops of Bryce Canyon Botanical Facial Moisturizer to moisturize and nourish the skin. Click here for more about Facial Moisturizers.
Here at Bryce Canyon Botanicals, our plants are grown in our own gardens or partner farms, pesticide and chemical free, to meet our high standards for quality hydrosols and essential oils. We also ethically and sustainably hand harvest plants growing wild on our ranch in Utah located in the shadow of Bryce Canyon National Park, hence our name! Our plants are harvested and distilled on site, at just the right peak of maturity and time of day to capture the highest quality and quantity of essential oils produced by the plant.
Store hydrosols in glass bottles, away from heat, direct light or sunlight. Shelf life varies, but if stored well, hydrosols should last one year or more from date of distillation – see distillation date on bottle.
